The 24th episode of Sword Art Online: Alicization anime series ended with an announcement on Sunday that its second half, subtitled War of Underworld, will premiere in October 2019. The official website also revealed a new key visual for the third cours (pictured). The "Zoku Owarimonogatari and Monogatari Series Selection" program will replace Sword Art Online: Alicization's airtime on Tokyo MX, Gunma TV, Tochigi TV, and BS11 channels on April 7 at 12:00 a.m. The "Monogatari Series Selection" will air six select episodes in that timeslot, followed by Zoku Owarimonogatari, which will air in six episodes beginning May 18. Kadokawa began publishing the adventure sci-fi light novel by Reki Kawahara and abec in 2009, which has 21 volumes in print as of last December. A-1 Pictures produced the first two seasons in 2012 and 2014. The Sword Art Online Movie: Ordinal Scale anime film featuring an original story by Kawahara opened in Japan in February 2017, grossing over 4.3 billion yen worldwide. Sword Art Online: Alicization is schedule to air for four cours, adapting the Alicization arc which spans from volumes 9 through 18.
